Progesterone blood test
Service Description
Progesterone plays a crucial role in regulating the menstrual cycle and preparing the uterus for a healthy pregnancy. Why is it performed? Confirming ovulation: To check if your ovaries are successfully releasing an egg each month. Investigating infertility: To help identify reasons why you may be struggling to conceive. Monitoring pregnancy: To ensure hormone levels are healthy during early pregnancy, or to assess the risk of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. Tracking fertility treatments: To monitor hormone levels during IVF or if you are taking progesterone supplements. Important Note: For a standard 28-day cycle: The test is usually performed on Day 21 (day 1 being the first day of your period). For irregular cycles: We generally advise taking the test 7 days before your next expected period.
